After talking about pegs for an upcoming shoot, midlife crisis, and food, a friend asked me how to succeed in a cut-throat industry. Although I do not consider myself anywhere near as important as how he sees me, I answered still. I told him to do three things. First is to work hard. Second is to treat people with respect and be nice to anyone and everyone, and third, to always, always, always be patient.

Success rarely happens overnight, and if you’re not lucky enough to be one of those people, then be smart enough to work your way towards it.

Oh My Gulay

image

This is a long overdue post, but this is what I wore to our last day in Baguio sometime last month. It was night time, and everyone was hungry after a full day at Treetop Adventure and Baguio’s night market (my first time!) When asked where we wanted to go for dinner, I immediately suggested Oh My Gulay because 1. I’ve always wanted to visit this much blogged about Baguio restaurant and 2. All my friends (Krizia and Ade, to name a few) have been giving so much positive feedbacks about it. I can still vaguely remember my Papa’s cranky remark when I told him that we had to go up five flights of stairs to get to the place, and even more the face he made when I told him all they served there was vegetables.

He (as well as the rest of my family) was in for a surprise though!

Okay. We loved it. We loved everything about it. The ambiance, the decor, the view! But what really registered in our minds was the food. I’ve never hated vegetables but I was never crazy about them either, but Oh My Gulay made me question my tastes! My favorite was their Oh My Gulay rice, a dish that consists of native brown rice and ten different seasonal vegetables mixed in Mongolian sauce topped with steamed tofu and an egg omelette. What a mouthful!

We were the last customers of the night, so we got to meet Chef Roldan Macaranas! Thanks for the great food, Chef!

Oh My Gulay is located at the fifth floor of the Azotea Building (Green building) along Session Road in Baguio City.
