052312 MASQ: The MadHouse MNL Grand launch

Hello! If you’ve read my past posts, you would have known that I attended Mad House MNL’s grand launch party last May 23rd at KYSS bar and lounge in Makati. I apologize for only being able to blog about this now! Anyway, let me now take you through what happened that night in photos! :)

Here was what I wore! Please view this post for more details and photos of my outfit for that night. Thank you again to my BB and wonderful designer friend Tatie Aquino for the dress! I felt like a princess. Everyone loved it! :)

A fast fact that most of you might not know: I am someone who always makes a point of arriving in an event on time or earlier than the call time. I guess it has something to do with my being a student nurse. In our line of work, every second counts. Being a minute late could cost you your patient’s life. So before going to the actual event, I was already fretting on whether we would be late, whether the traffic would be heavy, etc. I’m a firm believer of first impressions, and I sure didn’t want to make a bad one!

This is my cousin Khendie. She’s the one who usually does my make up (because I cannot put on eyeshadow to save my life. I’m learning though!) for events or just simple shoots for my outfit posts. For this event, I told her I wanted my make up to look sweet yet edgy. She came up with a very barbie inspired look, complete with false eyelashes. So far, this look is my favorite look done by her so far. I felt beautiful the whole night. If you’re interested, you can hire her as your make up artist! She’s not really doing it professionally yet, but just in case you’re interested, you can contact her here.

Here was the mini poster I was talking about on my tweet! I had a mini spazz! I got to take this (plus a smaller one in a similar print) home as a token of appreciation for being the model for their June issue. I always get so happy every time I’m given prints of me modeling. <3

So anyway, let’s now go to the event itself. The launch started with a fashion show with clothes by a designer named Alexa (sorry if I got it wrong. Please correct me!) I have a reason for not being able to think straight that night though! Scroll down to find out why. Haha!

Raj had included me in the fashion show and asked me to walk runway style! I absolutely had no idea about this. I have never (emphasis on the never. Hello another first for 2012!) did any of those before (although I do fantasize about it, and being a runway model has always been one of my ultimate dreams!) Raj pulled me up from my chair, led me upstairs and introduced me to the designer and the rest of the models. Being the socially awkward person that I was, I flashed them a shy smile. Lucky for me, it turned out that they were nice. I even got to talk to some (hello Kristel and the girl in white. Huhu sorry I have a terrible memory!) Anyway, I was told to walk in after the rest of the models and the designer exit. I honestly didn’t know what happened next, but it was a moment I would never ever forget. Later I asked the people how I did, and they said I did okay, though I walked a bit too fast (because in reality, I really do walk fast. Haha) For now, being a runway model is a far off dream, but if offers come up in the near future, who am I to turn them down? (Uyy!)

Raj Bay, editor-in-chief of Mad House MNL, introducing the different parts of the magazine along with the respective producers. Look at me, listening attentively. Hehehe!

And then it was time for the fashion editorial part! This is Rocky Zaragoza, the producer for this section. He introduced me, along with the my two awesome-sauce photographers, Jelito de Leon and Kenneth Beltran. It was my first time to work with them (I only know them through tumblr) and I’m looking forward to more collaborations in the future!

This is the only photo of us three together! Si Kenneth kasi hindi ako pinapansin! Kidding. Haha! We were all given prints of the fashion editorial advert. Next time we three should take a complete (and decent) photo together, okay? :D

After that, other sections of the magazine was discussed. One pretty interesting section for me was the “People” section. For this month, they are featuring blogger/entrepreneur/student/photographer/brand ambassador/slasher David Guison. I already met David (yes close!) during the Multiply Shopping Party last year, and I distinctly remember the words he told me. I asked to have a picture taken with him and Lissa Kahayon and he said “Ang tangkad mo naman” I didn’t see him at the Mad House event though, but we did see flashes of his baby photos! If you’re a fan of David (I know a friend who has a huge crush on him. Hello Yanna! Haha) you better watch out for Mad House MNL’s June issue. ;)

The after party was next but I didn’t stay. One reason is that it was never in my personality to party and drink and dance but mostly I decided to go home because 1.) It was nearing midnight and I promised my parents I wouldn’t stay out too late and 2.) I had an exam and a report the next day. Ang hirap lang maging nursing student! Chos!

Here’s another first! I finally met Joco Commendador, the maker of (what else) Joco Shoes! I wore his shoes to the Mad House shoot, and got injured by one of his 9-inched-heels-creation. I find his works pretty and creative nonetheless. Buwis buhay nga lang talaga! Hello Joco! It was nice meeting you! Don’t stop making shoes! :D

The night wouldn’t be complete without friends who came to support you. Thank you to my bebe Dasha, Brent, Krizia, Tovie and Fhia for coming! <3

With the Mad Men! Allison, me and Raj (I love your shoes!)

The other half of the Mad Men. John, Me, Allison (again? Haha!) and Rocky!

Last photo op! Raj, me and Julie!

Of course, I would like to thank these two ladies up here. Without them, this night wouldn’t be possible. Thank you Krizia and Khendie. Alam niyo yan! :)

Apologies if this post got too long. There’s just so many things I am thankful for. One of those is you guys! All of these wouldn’t be possible without you! :D

P.S. My best friend Dom and I recently procured a new term of endearment for each other. He is Sweed and I am Hert. Apparently he finds this ultra fun (Sweed + Hert = Sweedhert?) and asked me to ask if anyone of you guys is willing to put life into Sweed and Hert and make them into cartoon characters, somewhere in the lines of the characters in Adventure Time. If ever you’re interested, please do drop me a message or send me an e-mail (chrlnajose@yahoo.com) I do not know what kind of compensation you would be getting in return yet but we’ll work something out. Let me know! Thank you! :D

That’s it. If you reached the end of this post, congratulations! Here’s a hug for you! Haha. Please do keep watching out for the online release of Mad House MNL’s June issue. I haven’t seen the final sets themselves yet, and I hope you’re all as excited as I am! Thank you so much for reading and have a good night! <3

BTS May 16, 2012 (Fab Manila X TV5 shoot)

Hello guys! If you are following me on Twitter, you must have come across my tweets saying how blessed and thankful I am for all the things I’ve been receiving lately. Anyway, another blessing came to me last week in the form of a television modeling stint! I modeled a bag for Fab Manila, who was featured this morning on TV5’s ‘Good Morning Club’ The exposure may not be that long (I still haven’t gotten the chance to watch the episode yet, although my friend Dominic and cousin Khendie told me about it) but I am still thankful nonetheless. By far, landing a spot on a national television show is one of my favorite ‘firsts’ this year. 2012 has been amazing to me so far, and I am looking forward for more! :)

Anyway, here are some photos. Thank you to my cousin Khendie for taking behind the scenes, helping me carry my stuff and for doing my make up! Yay for supportive family members!

Us before the shoot!

This is Tanya Valera. She’s the other model Fab Manila brought. I think she came to the meeting place first because I saw her roaming around the shops when we arrived. I was a little intimidated by her at first but when we started talking everything fell away. She’s really nice and smart! Very pretty too! Hi Tanya if you’re reading this! I hope to see/work with you again soon. Also, good luck with law school! :D

The TV5 crew setting up the bags. The episode was about back to school bags.

The very pretty host. Sobrang galing lang niya mag-project. Girl crush! :)

Little Black dress - VIRUS | Tri-color envelope clutch - Fab Manila | Holly chain necklace and black connector ring - Bubbles | Mermaid connector ring - Paperdoll Shoppe | Shoes - Call it Spring

This was what I wore. I chose this little black dress (amidst all the clothes I brought that day hahaha) because I wanted the bag assigned to me to stand out (my theme was ‘trendy’ bags) I heard black doesn’t look good on TV though so I’m hoping my part turned out okay! Haha!

Me and Tanya!

And then it was my turn! There were actually six of us assigned for each category but I heard only three were shown. This post has actually been sitting in my drafts for days now (hahaha) because I didn’t want to post it yet in case my part will get cut. So anyway, all I did was to literally ‘model’ the bag. Opening the bag, flashing some smiles, walking a bit. I even did a twirl (or two) because the skirt of my dress called for it. Haha!

Us after the shoot. Say hello to Shiela and Jenny, the owners of Fab Manila. Thank you so much for this opportunity! I’m hoping to work with you guys again soon! :)

Experiences like these are always great. I doesn’t only let me add a new chapter to the stories I will someday tell my kids, but I also get to gain friends and meet new people as well. And that, for me, is priceless.

P.S. Join my ongoing giveaways if you haven’t yet! :)

Thank you so much for reading and have a good night! :)

I just got home from the Doctor’s. Just waiting for the pain to finally hit me. When that happens, ice cream and hany (and maybe some Ponstan at the side haha) will save me. :P (Taken with instagram)

Hello there! I’m a happy girl for a lot of reasons today, but one of these is because I finally got hold of a copy of the March 16, 2012 issue of Philippine Star! If you don’t know why I’m being all enthusiastic about this, this post will explain everything. A huge thank you to my Tita for securing me a copy! She went all the way to Monumento and scoured all the newsstands before she found this. Yay for supportive family members! Thank you also to Anna because she offered me her copy. Sweet mo! Kilig ako! And yes. Kailangan may post para dito. First time ko kasi eh. Haha! <3

Anyway, today officially marks the start of my summer vacation! Nursing students are usually deprived of summer vacations, so please, hayaan niyo na ako magsaya! Haha.

I hope you all had a great day today! Thank you for reading! :)

WANTED! Copy of ‘The Philippine Star’ March 16, 2012 issue

Saying that today is the best and worst day of my life would be an understatement. I would elaborate on the ‘worst’ part on my next posts (because I do not want to spoil the happy vibes of this post) so let me share on why I consider March 16, 2012 as the best day of my life so far - today I got printed on a national newspaper!

So okay, I know you’re all thinking. I was ‘just’ interviewed, and my name was mentioned a couple of times. So what? Well, no matter how petty this may seem to some, that won’t ever change the feeling I’m having right now (and had for the last 30 minutes or so hahaha) I am beyond overwhelmed, happy and thankful! 2012 has given me a lot of firsts and so far, this is my favorite.

And now, I have a request. To anyone who is reading this, if you are a subscriber of ‘The Philippine Star’ and/or have a copy of today’s issue (March 16, 2012) I am very much willing to buy, work for, or steal (not really haha) your copy. If you know anyone for that matter, please let me know? It would mean the world to me. (Gusto ko ipa-frame okay! Haha) I’m not sure if copies will still be available by tomorrow kasi (sad) Send me an e-mail me if you can help and I will love you forever! chrlnajose@yahoo.com Thank you so much! <3

Edit: March 17, 2012. I already secured a copy! Yay! More details and photos on this post.

Oh and by the way, what I said in the article is true. A blog is really nothing without its readers. So again, thank you, my dear readers and followers. I’ve said this a million times before but I will say it again - I will never be where I am right now without you guys. Blessed and thankful. That’s me. :)

P.S. A big thank you to Jeshrel Co for the heads up and to Karen Bolilia for providing me with this wonderful opportunity! A wave of gratitude coming your way! *wave*

I hope you all had a great day today! Keep smiling! :)
