Hello! I don’t really have a post planned for today, so I’m just going to tell you how my day went. Today we had our second day of duty in Shalom Christian Bahay Paanakan in Antipolo, our second to the last rotation for this semester. Today was prenatal check up day (Tuesday and Wednesday) and our group was assigned to handle the ‘outside’ portion of Shalom - namely, doing the interviews, taking blood pressures and assisting in blood tests, among others. I’m okay with most of the activities but I chose to be the one who would interview the patients (along with one boy senior who was doing his completion of cases) because I was in the mood to talk a lot that day (also because I love writing down things, and with doing the interview comes writing down stuff haha. Sorry mababaw lang kasi talaga akong tao haha!) So anyway, we had 101 pregnant mothers that day, and I wished I had with me photos so you guys could envision what went on earlier. Our group’s activities included shouting (yes, shouting) out numbers, calling out orders, saying excuse mes every five seconds because the place was cramped and all those things. What I really liked about this though is that I got to interact with a lot of people, a skill one must master if one wants to pursue nursing. I got to teach them new things about their health and condition and in turn I learned things from them as well - mga kasabihan, their stories, how they met their husbands, how happy they were when they had their first babies, that sort of stuff. I don’t consider it snooping, because they were the ones to open up in the first place. And then came the time when I got to interview a girl who got pregnant at 15. It was pretty obvious how nervous she was. It wasn’t also surprising how little she knew, being at her age and all. She was jumpy, jittery, and stutters a lot when she gives answers to my questions. I am not mature myself, mind you, but I had to be for that girl. I hope she learned a thing or two from me, though. I also hope that things will turn out for the better for her and her baby. :)

Whew! What a heavy paragraph! Sorry about that! Haha. And now I will try to lighten things up by sharing one last thing. I went to JRS earlier to ship some items from my closet sale (Please check it out here too! You might find something you’d like!) One of the staff there made my day by telling me that I was beautiful. I haven’t been called ‘beautiful’ by a male specie in 19838638779 months (the rude catcalls I get around Cubao everyday aren’t counted, by the way) and the feeling was just overwhelming especially because I felt he really meant it (because honestly, today is one of my many ‘I feel so ugly’ days. Period, haggard look from duty, fatigue, etc.) I then said thank you and went on my way with a smile on my face. Little things like those can make my day (and I think, any other girl’s day) :D

By the way, a shout out to Ana of Anagon Collection for sending me this super cute floral headpiece! I love it to death and I cannot wait to use it for a shoot one of these days. Visit her shop for more lovely handmade accessories! :)
